Authentic paint Wehrmacht
One of the colors of the basic camouflage from February 1943.
Order No. 181 of February 1943 prescribed a new bright color for army vehicles, guns and armored vehicles. This camouflage coloration was based on the dark beige color RAL 7028 Dark Yellow according to the sample. Camouflage spots consisted of 2 color tones: RAL 8017 red-brown and RAL 6003 olive-green, and were applied in appropriate quantities depending on season, weather and area of use. For example, olive green areas were increasingly used in the summer and reddish brown in the fall.
Most vehicles were painted dark yellow at the factory and then the appropriate camouflage patches were applied locally. The new camouflage was first widely used during Operation Citadel on the Type III/IV/V/VI tanks used there. From February 1943 vehicles and equipment destined for Africa were also supplied painted dark yellow. Since September 1944 more and more vehicles were equipped with so-called ambush camouflage. In it, the dark yellow color receded into the background and the olive green color RAL 6003 dominated the camouflage finish.
