The Pz.Kpfw.IV was used by German forces throughout WWII, and its Ausf. G variant was particularly notable as the first long-barreled version of this workhorse tank. Manufactured between March 1942 and June 1943, one of the identifying features of early production Ausf.G vehicles was the rounded muzzle brake. For beleaguered German units trying to take on powerful Soviet T-34s on the Eastern Front, the Ausf.G must have been a welcome arrival. The 2-stroke 350cc engine motorcycle was light and nimble, suiting it well to use in the rugged terrain and often punishing weather conditions on the Eastern Front; it was used for both reconnaissance and dispatch missions, and in fact saw service wherever German troops were in action.
